Technology

Generating 1500 ANSI lumens in combined red, green and blue from a 2x4 mm light source, Goldeneye™ LED-based devices are easily bright enough to replace the arc lamps currently used in projection displays that use DLP, LCD or LCOS technology. Arc lamps have many undesirable properties, including short lifetimes, slow startup, lack of color control, high bulb pressures and the use of mercury. LED light sources eliminate these problems while increasing color saturation and eliminating replacement bulb expense.

The Goldeneye™ light sources utilize patented light-recycling cavities that, when efficiently coupled to the proper light engine, provide 2 to 5 times the brightness of existing state-of-the-art LEDs. The use of this proprietary technology solves the critical problem of how to effectively achieve a small light-source area while incorporating a sufficient number of LEDs to illuminate a large area display.

Goldeneye™ light sources are able to achieve this performance using standard, commercially available LEDs operating well within their manufacturer's recommended drive limits. The result is a highly reliable, easily mass-produced product ready for integration into consumer products today.

An added benefit is Goldeneye's proprietary LED light modulation scheme, which allows each source to be independently controlled to enhance or modify color temperature, color brightness, and color balance on a scene by scene or even frame by frame basis.

In addition to projection displays, products that can use this proprietary technology are found in a wide variety of consumer applications, including automotive headlights, workspace illumination and general lighting.
